Tuberous breasts develop during puberty when the breast tissue grows within a tighter or constricted base. This can limit normal expansion of the breast, particularly in the lower portion, resulting in a narrower shape, reduced lower-breast fullness, and a higher breast crease.
The exact cause is not fully understood, but differences in the connective tissue surrounding the developing breast are thought to play a role. The condition may affect one or both breasts and can vary considerably in severity.
Other features can include breast asymmetry, a wider gap between the breasts, enlarged or prominent areolas, and breast tissue that protrudes through the areola. Tuberous breasts are a developmental variation and are not caused by lifestyle, exercise, or something a person has done.

Treatments that address this
It may be worth seeking professional advice when tuberous breast shape, asymmetry, or limited breast development becomes a persistent concern after breast development is complete. A consultation can assess the degree of constriction, breast volume, areolar shape, and individual anatomy to determine suitable correction options.
